Kenya Hall 2011 – College Scholarship Recipient

University Attending in Fall 2011: Northwestern University
Intended Major: Theatre Arts
Kenya’s Dreams: “Acting is about discovery, and even the most inexperienced actor can discover something from a piece when they find a deeper meaning in it. This happens because discovering how relationships between people work is such a big part of theatre. If one can learn about and comprehend how people behave towards each other then one can get a better grasp on themselves as a person and how they wish to be. When people learn about themselves, and potentially others, they create a sense of unity. I believe that unity is one of the weaker aspects of communities right now. When people have to work together to create something artistically it is impossible not to bond. So many minds intertwining in an effort to create something beautiful that they can be proud of links people together in a way that nothing else can. I want to be a vehicle for creating such creativity by not only presenting pieces through my acting but by helping others find themselves.”
